Bio
Denise Bertacchi is a Midwestern Scouter with experience in a big suburban Pack and a long time Scout. She has served as a Den Leader for Tigers through Webelos and as a Pack committee chair.
As a girl she belonged to a couple unique Girl Scouts troops from Pixies to Seniors. Pixies were a pilot program for Daisy Scouts in St. Louis. She also belonged to a Senior Mounted Girl Scout troop in the 80′s. Troop 1184 was “decommissioned” by the Greater St. Louis Girl Scout Council – they didn’t want the liability anymore – and is now simply known as God’s Green Acre Ranch. They’re still a great bunch of girls with the spirit of Scouting - go check out the GGAR website.
Currently Denise is helping her 11 year start his journey through Boy Scouts and is looking forward to the day her second son will be old enough to be a Tiger.
Denise is a full time freelance writer. She strings for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, has written several articles for Boys’ Life, Missouri Life and a few other magazines. She’s also the St. Louis Cub Scout Examiner and does a little blogging.
Denise comes from a family of Scouts. Both parents were Scouts as kids and Scout leaders for her Girl Scout troops. She is very proud of the fact that not only did her dad make Eagle Scout as a boy, but also joined Girl Scouts in the ’80s in order to be a troop leader. You don’t see to many dad’s leading Cadet Troops!
